Please read the following information before proceeding
Babies born in Suffolk can be registered at any Suffolk Register Office.
Babies born in Norfolk whose parent(s) live in Suffolk may be registered at the Lowestoft office.
Babies born in Cambridgeshire whose parent(s) live in Suffolk may be registered at the Haverhill, Newmarket or Bury St Edmunds offices.
You must have decided the baby's full name, it is not always possible to change the name in the future.
You are legally required to register the birth of your baby within 42 days of the birth.
Please check the birth entry very carefully before signing as any errors are subject to a correction consideration fee.

Please bring the following supporting documents
Baby's Red Book or Baby's Discharge Paperwork from the hospital
If would be helpful but not essential to bring a driving licence, birth certificate or current passport for both parents (if applicable)
Please note
If you are married or in a legal civil partnership with each other only one parent needs to attend.
If you are not married or in a legal civil partnership with each other, and you wish for the father's or second female parent's details to be included in the birth registration, both mother and father/ second female parent must attend the appointment together.

Birth Certificates
We recommend that you pay for birth certificates in advance to reduce the time taken for your appointment.
Please have your credit / debit card to hand before continuing to book online, to pay for certificates as part of the booking process.
Birth certificates are needed when applying for services such as child benefit and registering with a childcare provider or school.
You can purchase additional certificates at the appointment if you require more.
